چکیده

Introduction: Papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) is the most common malignant neoplasm of neck. Most cases PTC are diagnosed based on pathologic criteria. However, few lesions that mimic nuclear features or architecture pose diagnostic problems. projections may be encountered in benign papillary hyperplasia multinodular goiter, Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, and Graves’ disease. For this reason, approach to these challenging should include immunohistochemistry. Galectin-3(Gal-3) an immunohistochemical marker shows positivity PTC. The present study was undertaken investigate whether strong galectin-3 expression essential hallmark hyperplasia.
Material Methods: Gal-3 sought by immunohistochemistry 33 patterns (on microscopy) specimens received at our institution. results obtained were statistically analysed.
Result Conclusion: Of studied, 17 PTC, 16 hyperplasia. Immunohistochemical stain with Galectin -3 revealed a significant P – value, which proves tendency for higher than

Serum Galectin-3: diagnostic value for papillary thyroid carcinoma.

OBJECTIVE Thyroid cancer constitutes approximately 1% of all cancers, approximately 90% of the endocrine malignancies, and is responsible for 0.4% of cancer-related deaths. Additional markers are required for the accurate diagnosis of thyroid malignancies. There is no marker that can accurately facilitate pre-operative benign-malignant differentiation of thyroid nodules. The present study aims ...

Diagnostic significance of Ki67, CK19, Galectin-3 and HBME-1 expression for papillary thyroid microcarcinoma

The incidence of Papillary Thyroid Carcinoma (PTC) has increased gradually in recent years, especially for Papillary Thyroid Microcarcinoma (PTMC). The purpose of this study was to evaluate the expression of Ki67, CK19, Galectin-3 and HBME-1 protein in PTMC and evaluate the clinical significance of differential diagnosis. The specimens of 80 PTMC cases and 40 benign papillary hyperplasia thyroi...

Diagnostic significance of CK19, RET, galectin-3 and HBME-1 expression for papillary thyroid carcinoma.

AIMS To evaluate CK19, RET, galectin-3 and HBME-1 expression in papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) and to evaluate their diagnostic significance. METHODS 155 PTC specimens and 83 other diseased-thyroid specimens were collected. Immunohistochemistry for CK19, RET, galectin-3 and HBME-1 was performed. RESULTS The 155 PTC cases were classified into eight variants according to the WHO classifica...

Diagnostic significance of CK19, TG, Ki67 and galectin-3 expression for papillary thyroid carcinoma in the northeastern region of China

BACKGROUND To evaluate the expression and differential diagnostic significance of CK19, TG, Ki67 and galectin-3 in papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) (metastatic and non metastatic), follicular adenoma and nodular goiter in patients from the northeastern part of China. METHODS 441 PTC specimens and 151 other benign thyroid specimens (97 cases of nodular goiter, 54 cases of nonmalignant follicu...

Expression of Galectin-3 and Galectin-7 in thyroid malignancy as potential diagnostic indicators.

INTRODUCTION It has been suggested that Galectin-3 (Gal-3) and Galectin-7 (Gal-7) are potential tumour markers for differentiating thyroid carcinoma from its benign counter part. Galectins are beta-galactoside-binding proteins with Gal-3 being a redundant pre-mRNA splicing factor. They are supposed to be p53-related regulators in cell growth and apoptosis, being either anti-apoptotic or pro-apo...
